The problem is that we need some way to provide electricity when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing. It's unclear if storage can do the trick. Nuclear power creates long-term problems (worst of all, the waste that will be toxic for thousands of years), but I'm of the mind that we can figure that out later. We have a very urgent, time-sensitive crisis to deal with first.
