Sure, "life continued to evolve." Life also evolved 500 million years ago when the earth's average temperature was 30 degrees Celsius rather than the 14 or so it is now. I'm sure it was great for bacteria or whatever!

But we are not bacteria, and there seems to be a pretty narrow temperature range that is associated with thriving human civilization. We are now exiting it. That's the point.

Climate change won't end life on earth -- no one is seriously arguing that -- but it threatens our ability to live on the earth in the comfortable way we have come to expect.
