I totally agree that a carbon fee and dividend is an elegant and rational solution that should be attractive to large swaths of the country. It's an awesome tool for encouraging a low-carbon lifestyle and the dividend even serves as a mini-UBI.
But CCL and other groups have been pushing on this for a long time without getting very far. My worry is that the "bipartisan" nature of such solutions is ineffective when one of the two parties is completely uninterested in seriously engaging.
While some conservative intellectuals may have come around to the CF&D, it seems like the conservatives who actually have power in government are not interested in it. I wish it were otherwise...
