I hear you, and, trust me, sometimes I'm not very hopeful myself about slowing climate change. But hopelessness won't get us anywhere. In fact, if people just decide we're all screwed, it will actually stand in the way of us doing anything beneficial. I guess I'd prefer to live in a society that envisions a better future and does what it can to bring it about -- even if we suspect it won't be enough.
