I agree. I think a lot of Americans resist this because they a) think it will be a lot of work and money (there was an article in the Wall Street Journal recently about a rich person who "rewilded" their lawn for the low, low cost of $65,000) or b) think it will be ugly. Neither has to be true.
I killed a patch of my lawn with an old tarp last winter and sowed about $30 of native wildflower seeds on the patch. It is now the best part of my yard, and even my wife (who was quite skeptical of the project) posts pictures of it online. My favorite thing about it?
